What it is
Children are not small adults. Pediatric care uses substantially gentler techniques — often closer to sustained contacts and very low-force mobilization than to the audible adjustments adults may associate with chiropractic.
Common reasons families seek pediatric care include musculoskeletal concerns following falls or sports, postural changes during growth spurts, and adolescent sports performance and recovery.
Common causes
Common reasons families bring a child to the practice:
- Growth-related discomfort — particularly during rapid growth phases.
- Sport and play injuries — minor strains, sprains and overuse.
- Postural changes — increasingly common with screen and device use.
- Backpack and school-related concerns — load and posture combined.
- Athletic recovery — for adolescents in higher-volume training.
- Movement assessment — at the recommendation of another provider.
How chiropractic care may help
Sessions are shorter, gentler, and parent-inclusive. Care emphasizes movement education, parent guidance, and only as much hands-on technique as is appropriate for the age and presentation. Communication with your child’s pediatrician and other providers is welcomed.
Good pediatric care is mostly listening, watching, and doing as little as possible — but well.
When to consider other care
Please consult a pediatrician for: developmental concerns, feeding difficulties, persistent or unexplained illness, fever, suspected fracture, or any concern outside musculoskeletal scope. Pediatric chiropractic care complements pediatric medical care — it does not replace it.
